FileWave supports AD (Microsoft Active Directory), OD (Open Directory), eDir (Novell eDirectory), Open LDAP, and many more directory services that support LDAP based queries so that you can utilize your existing directory service structure, units, users, and user-groups. With FileWave's ability to work with your directory, you save time by allowing FileWave to do the heavy lifting for you.
The RESTful API is code built into FileWave server version 6.x that provides the capability of two-way communication between the FileWave Postgres database and other external DB’s. Using calls in the RESTful API, a FileWave administrator can generate queries, exchange information, and more efficiently integrate inventory data. The RESTful API is designed so that queries and tools created using the current version API will continue to function as future versions of the FileWave server and admin apps are introduced.
There are two primary reasons for learning about, and taking advantage of the RESTful API. The first is being able to access the FW database externally, such as through a terminal session or custom dashboard. The second is integrating other databases with the FileWave database.
