I'm setting up a test & eval evironment with FileWave (v11.2.2). I have installed the FileWave Admin tool both on the FW server (Mac mini) and on my own iMac (which is not a FW client as yet). What i don't understand (and don't find any information about) is why the two installations behave differently.
With the tool installed locally on my mac (sierra) when i press the *test connection* button on the "LDAP" pane in the preferences i get the error "inventory service not online" and on the "Inventory" pane the "LED" in the "Inventory Server" area is red. Also very often (surprisingly not always) I cannot use the update model command because "inventory service is offline". And lastly i see two errors/warnings in the bottom left corner: "DEP - MDM service not running" and "Inventory - No connection. Certain features require an inventory connection, please investigate".
With the tool on the server everything is OK.
I would galdly "investigate" as fw suggests but where should I start? Where is this "inventory service" supposed to run? Can I start it manually? Have I misunderstood something completely?
Any help is highly appreciated.
FWAdmin on FW server and locally not the same

I can answer my own question: I forgot to add the server address in the "Mobile" pane of the preferences of the local installation. It was still "localhost" and when i entered the fw servers address everything was ok.
