I am having problems with device names being different in Filewave and the actual name on the device. I deleted the client out of Clients in Filewave, erase all content & settings on the actual device and now I can not get the device to appear in Filewave again. Any ideas?
I'd recommend giving FileWave Support a call to sort through all of your various issues as quickly as possible. I'm going to try my best to guess what your problem is with the info you've provided but I may be off.
I'm guessing you're referring to iPads because you mention "erase all content and settings". A mobile device actually has 2 names, the FileWave client name vs. the device name in iOS on the actual device. Typically on supervised iPads these will both be the same as FileWave has the ability to rename supervised devices. Apple does not allow us to rename personal non-supervised devices. Because of this I'm going to guess that your iPads are not supervised.
Since they're not supervised that leads me to believe that they are not enrolled in the DEP program, which allows you point your devices to your FileWave server so that if the device is ever erased it automatically re-enrolls. This might explain your your 2nd problem. If the device is not in DEP or is in DEP but does not have a DEP profile assigned it will not enroll automatically in MDM when reset. If that's the case you'll need to re-enroll the device manually by visiting the enrollment URL from the iPad itself. This URL can be found in the FileWave Admin by going to Assistants > Enroll iOS Device > Manual Enrollment. Note the enrollment URL at the bottom of the window.
