If you attended to one of our Alliance Conference, you already know that FileWave 11 will be released soon, and will make use of a unique Database backend.

Who says new database says migration, who says migration says risks of migration issue. While we've put all our efforts on testing as many setup as we could, there are still some cases we may not have covered.

Postgres (the new backend, already used in MDM/Inventory...) is sometimes more strict compared to sqlite, and while data integrity was usually enforced later by FileWave program, now Postgres does it too ; the side effect is that if data in the source database are not 100% ok, migration will fail.

Based on all our tests we already discovered a lot of cases and worked around those, but to make sure you will be able to upgrade and benefit from all new features from FileWave 11, we highly recommend you to try our Migration Checker Tool : go to mc.fwx.io and follow instructions.

In case migration fails, FileWave engineering team will be notified and will come back to you as soon as possible.

Note that if even if you don't try the tool, installing FileWave 11 will first test if in place migration works ; if migration would fail, you'll easily be able to revert to FW 10.x and continue working until we fix the problem. That said, if you test now, this let us chances to either go back to you and fix your data or add a workaround.

Thanks !

You've been a lot to try your migration yesterday, that's really great. It will help us a lot to make sure FileWave 11 migration will go as smoothly as possible, many thanks for that.

As a small note: to make sure there is no interference, we don't run concurrent migration check, so all requests are for now queued. Which means that these days where everyone is testing the DB, our "you will get a mail in 10 minutes" is a bit optimistic ;).

So please refrain from retrying too quickly the script ; it's not that you don't get the email, but just that you're in the queue !

Thanks !
