We have a department with FileMakerPro 14.0.2 installed. We'd like to deploy two incremental patches. The current installations existed before we had filewave. Looking for guidance on best practice for applying an incremental update to existing deployments? Any experience with FileMakePro specifically?

- Do we create a fileset with a full install of the application and patches, then push this to the clients who already have the app installed?
- Or do we create fileset of only the patches, then push this to the clients?

Testing this while waiting for input, so here's what I tried:
- Installed base application to provisioning machine (FMPv14.0.2)
- Ran Filewave magic, targeted Program Files only
- Installed patch 14.0.3 and patch 14.0.4
- Rebooted provisioning machine
-When it came back up, ran fw magic, selected create fileset
-uploaded to server
-associated to test client, updated model
-verified download and install on client from client log
-On test machine that already had FMP 14.0.2 installed (not by filewave), there are now two registered installation in Programs list: 14.0.2 and 14.0.4
-There still only appears to be the one file folder for the program itself, but it's registered twice.
-Application runs and reports as updated version 14.0.4

Hello,

You seem to have taken the correct steps. The only change/suggestions I have would be to select the Entire Disk when running Fileset Magic instead of Program Files only. This will allow it to see all of the changes. You are still allowed to remove items at the end of the second snapshot before creating the Fileset.

The other thing you may try is creating and deploying a Fileset of FPMv14.0.2. This will allow FileWave to take control of this Application. Then try the steps you did previously. Another option would be to deploy an MSI of the updates if they are available.

If none of this works for you, please create a support ticket at www.filewave.com for us to take a closer look.

Regards,
Derek
