The FWNotify fileset can be used to 1) display a message to Windows end-users and/or 2) terminate one or more Windows processes. For example, it can be used to notify users of maintenance events such as planned downtime. Another use might be to warn users to save their work and let them know that one or more applications will be terminated so that they can be upgraded by another fileset.
The behavior of FWNotify is controlled by a settings.ini file. Here you can modify the dialog title, timeout period (if any), text, and list of processes to terminate (if any). The message dialog will appear and remain on top of all other windows to ensure that it’s viewed by the end-user as long as it’s open.
