Trying to find a way to disable siri on the desktop. The OS is 10.12.1 Sierra. We have the dock icon hidden and the status menu icon hidden, but they can still open spotlight or launchpad and search for siri and open and enable. I have tried modifying the com.apple.assistant.support.plist and com.apple.siri.plist, but they are still able to enable siri.

I thought about blacklisting Siri with a config profile and specifying a custom folder path of /Applications/Siri.app but that didn't seem to do anything. I didn't really want to blacklist the entire /Applications folder so I created a /Applications/test subfolder but it seems Sierra won't let me move the Siri app package into it. Didn't have any problems moving my 3rd party apps into that test subfolder. Seems the SIP might have kicked in. Attempted to move it with a sudo mv command in Terminal and was denied there too. Sorry this isn't of much help but at least you know what not to try.

Found this here : list.jamfsoftware.com/jamf-nation/discus...tant-in-macos-sierra
/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.SetupAssistant "DidSeeSiriSetup" -bool true
I am going to create a script in FW Admin on this to see if i can automate it.

if you like, add the following....., we use it in our 10.12.5 installer fileset deployed via kiosk
/usr/bin/defaults write /Users/$i/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SetupAssistant.plist DidSeeCloudSetup -bool true
/usr/bin/defaults write /Users/$i/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SetupAssistant.plist DidSeeSiriSetup -bool true
/usr/bin/defaults write /Users/$i/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SetupAssistant.plist LastSeenCloudProductVersion -string "10.12.5"

Rich Trouton also has another method that he uses that is likely a bit easier to automate since it is via mcx profiles. Details can be found on his site.

You can deploy it to the user template folder or to standard preference locations to implement it on all target machines.
