We have purchased several Lacie Lightning external drives.

Our preferred deployment scenario for mass deployment would be:
  1. Make an external lightning drive a bootable volume, with the latest version of 10.8 installed on it
  2. Install lightning on the bootable external volume.
  3. Import and ASR ready image into Lightning.
  4. Boot the new machine from the external Lightning Drive
  5. Use lightning to deploy the ASR image to the new laptop's internal HDD

Does that make sense? Is it even possible?

Thanks for the suggestion Ev,

There isn't a super easy way to follow that workflow yet with FileWave Lightning. But a user has found a workaround here:

I've added you to the list of users requesting that feature.
