Hello,

sometimes it would be useful just to disable one single file out of a fileset at a particular time.

Example:
We have about thirty MS Office templates deployed by Filewave to "All Users". Just _one_ of these templates will be obsolet at a specific day. I'd like to set the deactivation date for just this template, but not all the others.

I know, of course, there are some work-arounds for this problem. But work-arounds are not a feature. So I would be happy, if one day this would be a feature.

Thanks a lot.

Norbert,
I guess that the best way right now, would be to duplicate the whole Fileset, Modify it to be missing the file and associate it to the same group. Schedule the old one to go inactive/delete and the activate the new Fileset right now.

Since the client is intelligent, when the expire, the new fileset will heal it all back to the way you wanted.
.....
That being said, I would set it up differently in the first place.
Create a folder in the filesets window called "Office with templates" (or something) in it; place the generic office fileset. and then one fileset for each group of templates.

You could associate the whole folder to the group of machines needing office and the template. then when you needed to remove one, just pull it out of the "Office with Templates" folder. At next check in the removed template should go away.

Hope that helps.

Ben,
thank you for the work-around.
This is the way we do ist right now. But I think, this is not a very "smart" way.
Often we have to associate a fileset to more than just one or to groups. So at least there maybe a feature like "Associate to same groups as..." helpful.

To set up different filesets for the applications and the templates is what we also do. With your work-around it is not possible to set up a specific (de)activation date in the future.

Anyway, we'll see if I'm the only one with this request.

Regards
Norbert
