System Updates

FileWave allows you to have the ability to automatically find and deploy system updates for both Mac and Windows clients. The client will automatically report to the server which updates they need. An administrator may then create Filesets from the updates and deploy them to clients who are requesting the update. An administrator may manually associate updates as needed or automate the process.

If you need to deploy an update quickly, you can instruct FileWave to automatically do so to all requesting clients. When clients that need the update check in with the FileWave Server, the update will begin to download immediately.

FileWave can be a stand-alone software update service (SUS) or you can use proxies and/or credentials and certificates to connect to an existing SUS server of your own.

How System Update Works

Our Software Update server is not simply another SUS Proxy. Your clients check for updates locally against catalogs provided daily by your FileWave server. Any requested updates are sent back directly to the FileWave server, where the FileWave Admin can choose how and when to deploy the specified updates to the Clients. Turn off "Automatic Updates" for your Mac and Windows clients. Now you are in control.

  • Software updates - Can be done manually or automatically. Updates of your specific software can be automatically filtered and deployed without interruption.
  • Patch management
  • Scheduling options - You decide when you wish updates to be deployed and schedule them ahead of time - or indicate that updates are deployed as soon as they become available.
  • Optional updates - The FileWave Kiosk gives end-users the ability to pull down updates relevant to their job as they become available.
  • Search for potential updates - on Apple or Microsoft Servers
  • Stand-alone software update service (SUS) - FileWave can be a stand-alone SUS or you can use proxies and/or credentials and certificates to connect to an existing SUS server of your own
