FileWave Helps IT Departments Implement Best Practices for Compliance Management
May 2nd, 2006
FileWave, a technology leader of Mac OS X and Windows systems management software, announces today that its software applications are ideally suited to helping enterprise IT departments implement best practices to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) legislation.
Wil, Switzerland, May 2nd, 2006
FileWave, a technology leader of Mac OS X and Windows systems management software, announces today that its software applications are ideally suited to helping enterprise IT departments implement best practices to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) legislation.According to the Gartner Group, spending on IT solutions for financial compliance management and corporate governance will account for 10ñ15 percent of IT budgets in 2006. Furthermore companies who choose one-off solutions for each regulatory challenge they face are likely to spend 10 times more on IT solutions for compliance than those that take a more sustained, programmatic approach.
FileWaveô, a software management suite, and Asset Trusteeô, an IT inventory management product, from FileWave help companies adopt a more systematic approach by streamlining their IT operations.
Asset Trustee ensures that an inventory of all applications installed on client computers (Mac or PC) is automatically sent to a central database called the Asset Trustee Inventory. This database is then used to create compliance reports. Meanwhile, Filewave automates the central distribution and management of all software installed on client machines, so further helping with compliance.
Filewaveís support staff have also created a script within the product that provides guidelines for routine compliance tasks such as ensuring users have to enter passwords to log back on their computers after the machine has been idle for a time.
"Having the right software management applications can significantly reduce the regulatory burden,î says Ben Forsyth, head of development of FileWave. ì"Our products help companies implement IT controls for compliance management without the need for complex new infrastructure projects."

Wil, Switzerland, Jan. 25, 2006

Results of all queries can be saved as text or in Microsoft Excel format.
“ If an IT Staff has not taken initiative to specifically manage their license compliance, it can easily become a large problem,” said Ben Forsyth from FileWave. “With Sarbanes Oxley reporting required for publicly traded companies, it is critical to report the proper value of a company’s assets in use. With the SQL version of Asset Trustee™ Inventory, companies now have the ability to easily report their asset data securely across the enterprise.”
Asset Trustee™ is designed for easy deployment on Mac OS 9, Mac OS X and Windows based client computers. The Scanner is an automated agent installed on each computer in the enterprise, it sends the information to the Asset Trustee™ PostOffice, a TCP/IP based server. After the PostOffice has processed the information from the Scanner, the Asset Trustee™ Inventory Database automatically imports incoming scanned data from the Scanners. Reports are generated from the Inventory Database. Pricing is based on the number of Scanners.

FileWave goes Cross Platform with "FileWave™ for Windows 1.0"
FileWave's mass software deployment and management tool based on Mac OS X now available for Windows.
St. Gallen, Switzerland, October, 22, 2004
FileWave, the leading provider of Mac OS X system management software, today announced the first release of the FileWave™ for Windows 1.0. This release signifies the first cross platform mass software deployment and management tool that runs off of Mac OS based servers. The administrator defines a model configuration only once at a centralized location, and is then able to deploy the configured software to all relevant client computers. FileWave’s network-based software administration tools, including configuration and monitoring, are transparent to the end user. With FileWave™ for Windows 1.0, system administrator now have the ability to mass deploy software applications to both Macintosh and Windows based operating systems from a Mac OS X based server and administrator console.
" When we're all done I expect that we have 300-350 Pc's and 100-150 Mac's on FileWave." said Kim Kaersgaard from Fyens Stiftstidende a newspaper publisher located in Denmark. "We have been working on FileWave for Windows since Beta 6," said Kaersgaard. "Today we did install a software package on 10 PC's within an hour - and the next ten? - it's taking even less time."
" With the FileWave™ WinClient system administrators now have unprecedented tools to deploy to both Macs and PCs all from their FileWave™ XServer,” said Ben Forsyth chief executive officer at FileWave(USA). "We are very excited to finaly make this release public. We spend enormous efforts, both in Development and testing, perfecting it and making the client share the same feature set as our Mac OS X based FileWave™ XClient.”
The software management tool FileWave™ for Windows 1.0 is made up of two modules: "FileWave™ WinAdmin", and "FileWave™ WinClient". FileWave™ for Windows 1.0 integrates with "FileWave™ for X" and offers an unsurpassed ease of use for IT managers and guarantees an extremely high speed of deployment when distributing software throughout a network.
"FileWave™ XServer" centrally stores all data relevant to end users, while the "FileWave™ Client" is installed on the end-user system – thus allowing the administrator to distribute new software and updates from a centralized location to any Mac or Windows based PC at any time.
Pricing is based on the number of clients and servers deployed throughout the network.

New Directory Integration features further add to FileWave's value.
St. Gallen, Switzerland, September 21, 2004
FileWave, the leading provider of Mac OS X system management software, today announced significant updates to its flagship software suite FileWave™ X 1.7. The new version allows businesses of all sizes to distribute Mac OS X software easily and rapidly across their distributed networks.A system administrator needs to define a model software configuration only once, at a centralized location, and can move on to other duties while the configuration is quickly deployed to all designated client computers. FileWave’s unique network and server-based software management tools, including software configuration and monitoring, are totally transparent to the end user.
Today, with FileWave™ X 1.7, directory services integration, using the LDAP protocol, is now possible. "With our new support for LDAP based directory services, system administrators now have the ability to integrate FileWave with their LDAP based directory servers,” said Ben Forsyth at FileWave. "In those cases where a customer doesn’t use an LDAP based directory server, clients can be imported from a standard text file. This new, and often requested, directory services integration, allows for the speedy creation of clients on the FileWave™ XServer.
This release really signals the first step in our efforts
to provide greater support of open standards and industry tools.”
The software management tool FileWave™ X is made up of three modules:
FileWave™ XServer, XAdmin, and XClient. FileWave™ X 1.7 offers
an unsurpassed ease of use for IT managers and guarantees an extremely

FileWave, the leading provider of Mac OS X and Windows systems management software, today announced the release of its cross platform software and hardware Asset Inventory system, Asset Trustee™ 6.6. The software, Asset Trustee™ supports Mac OS 9, Mac OS X 10.2 through 10.3 and Windows 98 through XP giving IT staff the ability to gather and report detailed hardware, software and configuration information for laptops, desktops and servers on the major desktop computing platforms.Software license reporting and compliance is a major issue with as much as 22%*of all software being used is not fully compliant. Often companies are not aware that they are not in compliance because they have not deployed tools to aid them in assessing their software compliance. Asset Trustee™ gives companies the ability to efficiently gather, query and report on their software licenses to seamlessly determine whether they are in compliance.
" If an IT Staff has not taken initiative to specifically manage their license compliance, it can easily become a large problem,” said Ben Forsyth chief executive at FileWave(USA). "As a result the company can have too many licenses deployed and be out of compliance or worse the company can overbuy licenses just to try and ensure that they are covered because they have no way of knowing how many licenses are deployed in their enterprise.”
Reports are generated from the Inventory Database and can be saved in a number of formats.
