Asset Trustee™ Components

Asset Trustee™ is comprised of three major components:

• The Asset Trustee™ Scanner
• The Asset Trustee™ PostOffice
• The Asset Trustee™ Inventory Database

The Asset Trustee™ Scanner

The Asset Trustee scanner operates as a Unix daemon (on Mac OS) / system service (on Windows) and is automatically installed onto each end-user's machine. It runs at intervals or fixed times and at specified frequencies, whether on or off the network. Designed to always yield to other processes so the end user has maximum computing time, it is responsible for scanning the client computer and sending the changed information to the Asset Trustee PostOffice.

The Asset Trustee™ PostOffice

The Asset Trustee PostOffice, which runs as a system service on Windows and as an application on Mac OS X, is the central application that listens for and receives the scan files from the client machines. It processes them into a readable format and makes the data available for import into the Asset Trustee Inventory Database. It has the capability to forward scan data to another PostOffice, which helps to distribute loads on large networks and makes the system scalable.

The Asset Trustee™ Inventory Database

The Asset Trustee Inventory Database is a database application that runs on one computer in the network. It stores data by automatically importing the scanned computer information after it's been gathered and formatted by the PostOffice. It features an easy-to-use interface that displays all scanned items and computer systems, enabling convenient management of the assets and detailed calculation, and integrates with open-source SQL databases such as HelpDesk, SMS, CRM, ERP.
