FileWave ships FileWave Inventory version 9.0 - June 2009

FileWave Ships FileWave Inventory™ Version 9.0

San Francisco, CA, June 11, 2009

FileWave, a technology leader for software management on the Mac OS X, Windows and Linux platforms, is pleased to announce the release of FileWave Inventory™ version 9. The new version allows customers to meet the ever-growing requirements for asset and inventory management. Major new features include: Purchase Order Management, Maintenance Contract Management as well as a Vendor and Product database.

FileWave Inventory™ is FileWave's IT software and hardware inventory management solution for Mac OS and Windows PCs as well as for all SNMP supported devices. Client computers automatically send all information to the centralized SQL database where reports are run to easily verify license compliance and compute financial values useful in Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX) compliance.

FileWave Inventory™ 9 brings you a new and comprehensive way to manage all of the IT assets in your estate. The new solution also offers increased security features such as being able to limit data accessibility by department, OS type, location and other user definable criteria and its improved web based user interface now uses Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX) to provide a Web 2.0 experience.

With our new features we allow the customer to define both products and vendors and to then directly create a purchase order from this information. By linking the license information and the audits reports you can automatically generate email notifications to administrators or departmental heads to inform them about any installation that causes license violations.

“With the integration of purchase orders and maintenance contract information, FileWave Inventory™ becomes a one stop shop for inventory management”, says Ben Forsyth, Director of Software Development for FileWave (USA), Inc. “The customer is able to record their purchase orders in the database and then, with no effort, be able at a later time in their lifecycle to find those assets and review all of the relevant history about those products or licenses.”

Release FileWave version 3.7 - January 2009

FileWave announces version 3.7 of its software management suite, FileWave™

Wil, Switzerland, January 8, 2009

FileWave, a technology leader for software management on the Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux systems, announces the release of FileWave 3.7 for Mac OS. In addition to distributing, installing and configuring operating system upgrades, FileWave permits users to efficiently mass deploy and manage all other types of software, from large ready-to-use applications such as Adobe Creative Suite 4 and Microsoft Office to vital security patches, both in a single- and a multi-platform environment.

FileWave™ 3.7, with its own significant performance enhancements and greater administrative flexibility, transforms the process of installing a complicated and time-consuming upgrade into a straightforward and hassle-free affair. FileWave™ 3.7 includes a new feature to re-image an entire computer. FileWave had always been able to deliver and remove software but now we've made it easier to duplicate an existing computer and have other computers have exactly the same software installed. To use the FileWave Imager the FileWave Administrator selects a mounted disk volume and creates a new installation from the mounted disk volume. Additionally, the Administrator can control pre and post-installation actions to preserve computer names and user settings.

"We are pleased to announce FileWave 3.7 with the imaging feature for the Mac OS," says Ben Forsyth, Director of Software Development at FileWave (USA), Inc. "We've had many requests from our customer base to provide a more seamless imaging solution and with FileWave 3.7, those features are now available."

Wil, Switzerland, October 7, 2008

FileWave™ 3.6 includes such new features as an "All Users" folder that allows a system administrator to deliver files to every user account on each computer. Release FileWave version 3.5 - March 2008

A totally Windows-based version of FileWave™ that brings powerful yet easy-to-use software management tools to Windows system administrators

Wil, Switzerland, February 25, 2008

FileWave, a technology leader for software management on the Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux systems, unveiled today the latest version of its software management suite, FileWave™ 3.5, for Microsoft Windows. FileWave™ makes the distribution, installation and configuration of software in multi-platform environments fast and uncomplicated, and this new release represents the first time that the FileWave Server, FileWave Admin and FileWave Booster run on the Windows operating system. Previous releases of FileWave for Windows required a FileWave Server and FileWave Admin installed on the Mac OS.

The FileWave WinAdmin allows a system administrator to manage all new software deployments and patches easily. It incorporates the majority of the functionality of the FileWave XAdmin in a brand new development specifically for Windows, and includes all the user interface improvements done on the XAdmin for version 3.5. Additionally, it fully supports the multiple administrator features developed specifically for FileWave 3.5.

"This is unprecedented for our company as this is the first time we are offering a FileWave Windows-only solution," explains Ben Forsyth, CEO and Head of Development at FileWave (USA), Inc. "Previous releases always required the back-end FileWave Server to run on the Mac OS. With FileWave 3.5 for Windows, however, our entire FileWave suite of software runs completely on the Windows operating system."

Here is an overview of the additional FileWave™ 3.5 for Windows features:

  • Simultaneous login by multiple administrators
  • Audit logging of administrator actions
  • Access privileges for each administrator account
  • User interface improvements with new icons and other UI improvements
  • Performance improvements with login and updating server

FileWave at the CeBIT 2010 - March 2010

CeBIT 2010 the OS X Business Park in Hannover

On 2nd and 4th March 2010, the FileWave team were presenting our FileWave and FileWave Inventory products at CeBIT 2010 alongside other premier manufacturers. Here's an overview of our time at the show:

Main Stage: Twice daily we presented the latest capabilities to the visiting IT specialists and showed them what makes FileWave truly different from other distribution tools that are currently on the market. Naturally our main emphasis was to convey our unique package management and to actually show live building of the "FileWave FileSets". Another new feature that was received particularly well was "FileSet Merge" which decreases the workload for the administrator whilst ensuring that the end user packages are always up-to-date.

Case Study presentation: It's always easy to perform a polished demo in a sanitised environment but to back up our live demo we decided to share the succesful story from one of our FileWave projects. Of course there are many examples we could have used but we felt tha one of the projects where we have made the biggest contributions and impact is the School District of Manatee County, Florida in the USA. The "before and after FileWave" detailed and highlighted how a mammoth project (distributing 30'000 client machines at 50 locations over an area twice the size of Berlin) became achievable.

Unlike many other companies, the fact that we presented a live demonstration of our product and then invited the audience to participate via a Q&A session both at the Main Stage and back in our booth within the OS X Business Park meant that we received a lot of praise and had a lot of positive discussion about our improved user interface and the new and enhanced funtionality within FileWave and FileWave Inventory which made the team both proud and look forward to attending the show next year.

We would like to thank all CeBIT visitors for coming along to support us and for all the helpful feedback we received at the show. We look forward to bringing you even more exciting news and updates in the coming months!

FileWave version 4.0 has been launched to great success, we've already had many customers upgrade from version 3 and we're looking forward to more and more customers updating in the coming weeks and months. The Mac production has been released and we are in the final phase for both the Windows and Linux builds, so look out for those versions on the customer board during February. The Windows release will be compatible with Windows XP, Vista and 7 Clients and Windows Servers 2003 and 2007 versions; naturally these will have the same user interface as the Mac version. New FileWave team members

In addition to the technical news, we also have some personnel announcements: in November 2009 Rebecca Peterhans joined our team and she is responsible for controlling our administration. Nurdan Eris our CEO said "This dynamic 25 year old brings a breath of "fresh air" directly from Swissport, her previous employer, with her bubbly voice and "can do" attitude she will welcome you either via telephone or as a visitor at our doors and she will ensure your account is run seamlessly".

As we welcomed in 2010 we also introduced a new Senior Sales Manager to the team. Some of you (especially our German speaking readers) might already know him, as it is Andreas Kuhn! The experience, qualifications and knowledge Andreas brings comes from more than a decade within the Apple environment as a freelancer, an Apple Certified Technical Coordinator and as an IT Supervisor inside major advertising companies such as Leo Burnett and McCann Erickson. Nurdan welcomes Andreas saying "he will add an extra layer of knowledge and experience to our team as he fully understands how our clients interact from both sides of the business relationship and we expect this to make our working partnership with you even better".

We would like to thank you all for the trust and business you gave us last year, and wish you and your business well for 2010! If you need any assistance then please let us know, it's what we are here for!

Review FileWave Roadshows - November 2009

Review of the FileWave V4 Roadshows

Almost two years ago, we spoke to our clients and then began development of FileWave 4 based on the ideas we presented at the annual FileWave conference and upon the feedback forums and from customers requests.  Last month, the FileWave team went on the road around Europe to present the version that we've developed from our roadmap and those requests.
We're proud to say that everywhere we showed FileWave 4 and Inventory 9 the attendees reactions were ones of total delight in what they saw and without fail they couldn't wait to get testing the new versions in their own environments.
“We are staggered with the reaction that we've received to the latest upgrades to our products, the new features that FileWave 4 offers for every kind of environment is huge”, says Thomas Kaufmann, Marketing & Communication speaker for the roadshows, “ We received such positive feedback from our presentations and all of the attendees were amazed at what a big step FileWave has made between Versions 3 and 4. The new solution presents itself as a System Lifecycle Management Suite which will redefine the cross platform software market and again reinforce us as the market leader”.
We want to thank all attendees again not only for coming to the roadshow events but also for supporting us by giving us their opinion and new requests over the past two years. Please keep the information coming at us, we love the challenges you set us.

FileWave provides screen lock solution for Macintosh systems.

FileWave covers the Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) criterion where critical user data have to be protected against unauthorized access by third parties.

We can guarantee a system lock out for a preset time frame (of say two minutes inactivity) with a password re-entry. For that purpose we provide a fileset containing a shell script. In order to make sure the system lock is definitely enabled this script is executed each time a user logs in. There is no need anymore to enable this function via Open Directory user management console.

This script runs on the following systems:

- OSX Tiger PPC and Intel

- OSX Leopard PPC and Intel all kind of hardware.

Features 3.7, FileSet properties - June 2009

Development 3.7 Features - Fileset Properties

While FileWave's new Imaging features attract the most attention, we've made some other major improvements.

One of these, Fileset Properties, will add significant new abilities while preventing mistakes in deployments.

You can access Fileset Properties by selecting a Fileset and then clicking on the blue Properties button.

This will present a sheet where you will find several convenient Settings. In the Properties tab you can set the display color, automized verification, Priority (installation order) and rebooting behavior.

The next tab allows you to set requirements for every Fileset e.g. OS specifications.

If the target machine doesn't satisfy the requirements you've set, then the Fileset won't be downloaded or activated.

Using Fileset Properties can save hours of Administration time and contribute to the reliability of your deployment.

Within 30 minutes we are looking to show you the new and much requested questions and subjects as well as showing you how you can improve your efficiency with FileWave.

The Webinar will conclude with a Q&A session.Check the dates for the weekly Webinars on our calendar.
